ADEKUNLE SAMUEL ADEYANJU AND IBUKUN OLANIKE ADEYANJU

Abstract

This study reviewed the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) and expert systems inshaping student study practices. It leveraged on the Diffusion of Innovation Theory in the review.  AI technologies, such as adaptive learning platforms and intelligent tutoring systems, pave the way for efficient learning through real-time feedback. Expert systems, on the other hand, enhance decision-making and critical thinking. The paper explores the advantages of AI technologies, which include improved time management, student engagement, and access to resources while addressing challenges such as technical limitations, data privacy concerns, and implementation costs. Strategies for the optimization of AI integration and expert systems were also identified.
Gamified learning, collaborative tools, adaptive systems, and regulated AI algorithms, were the identified strategies. The need to mitigate the risks of over-reliance on technology and ensure equitable access was also addressed. Furthermore, the study provided insights into how advancements in AI can create innovative and inclusive educational environments. Finally, the study recommended investing in infrastructure, simplifying AI interfaces, and training stakeholders to maximise the potential of these transformative technologies.
