SUBSIDY REMOVAL, POOR GOVERNANCE AND THE DWINDLING NATURE OF THE NIGERIAN STATE ON HUMAN SECURITY

Abstract
The paper offers discourse on subsidy removal, poor governance and the failing nature of the Nigerian state on human security. The objective of the study is to identify the implications of subsidy removal and the multiplying adverse effects on the citizenry. The study employed qualitative content analysis, purely based on library studies, and content analysis, were journal, internet sources, text books and others secondary sources were employed. The theoretical framework adopted in this study is the human security approach. The main finding of the study is that, subsidy removal has greatly inflicted untold hardship on Nigerians, making life unbearable for an average Nigerian. The study therefore recommends among others the provision of palliatives for public servants as well as the review of wages appropriate to meet up the hyper-inflation on goods and services to ameliorate the pains already inflicted on the citizens.
