Abstract
This study investigates the accessibility and utilisation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and their implications for social disparities within Yenagoa Metropolis, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The study employed a descriptive survey design. Data were collected using semi-structured questionnaires from a sample of 323 respondents aged 13 to 70 years and above, selected based on ICT usage criteria. Quantitative methods were utilized to analyze the data, employing descriptive statistics and inferential tools such as Chi-Square via SPSS. Findings reveal significant ICT access and usage among residents, with the internet playing a pivotal role in shaping social interactions. The study concludes that while ICT enhances connectivity and social integration, it also mirrors and sometimes amplifies existing social disparities. Recommendations include regulating ICT access and mitigating inequality indicators to foster inclusivity and equitable digital experiences.
